Michael L. Hope
Sergeant of Police

Sergeant Michael L. Hope joined the Camp Hill Borough Police Department in January of 1989, as a Patrol Officer.  Sergeant Hope previously worked for the Department as a Safety Officer.

Mike graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1983 and both worked as an Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic, prior to attending the Police Academy at the Harrisburg Area Community College in 1987.

While a Patrol Officer, Mike attended investigative training sessions and schools and became certified as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist, a DUI Breath Test Operator and was assigned to conduct major criminal case investigations and follow ups.

In 1996, Mike was promoted to Sergeant and was assigned as a Criminal Investigator / Patrol Supervisor and is currently responsible for criminal case investigations and the approval of all reports filed by the officers in the Department.

In 1997, Mike was honored with an opportunity to attend the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Academy, an opportunity that less that 1% of all police officers in the nation have.  The Academy was a 12-week leadership development program that was held at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Today, Mike is responsible for the management of the data processing equipment that the Department uses on a day to day basis, as well as his Criminal Investigative and Administrative assignments.

James D. McNaughton, III Sergeant of Police

Sergeant James D. McNaughton, III, has been a member of the Camp Hill Borough Police Department since 1973.

JD's primary duty within the Department is acting as a Patrol Supervisor.

JD is certified as an Intermediate PR-24 Side Handle Baton Instructor and is also certified to instruct such courses Monadnock Defensive Tactics and PPCT Defensive Tactics.  His certification in PPCT Defensive Tactics allows him to instruct such courses as Baton Training, Pressure Points, Defensive Strikes, Counter Strikes, Handcuffing and Spontaneous Knife Defense.

JD is a United States Marine Corps and Vietnam Veteran.  He has an Associates Degree in Police Administration from Harrisburg Area Community College.

JD is married and has 2 children.  He enjoys hunting, fishing, shooting and weight lifting
